Address: DK 28 , 38-311 Szymbark
The manor in Szymbark built around 1540, located in the town of Szymbark in the Gorlice poviat. This is the best example of a fortified castle in Poland. Former seat of the Gładyszów family. It is a very valuable monument of Renaissance architecture in Poland, described by architects as a leading example of the Polish castle. It was built in two stages. The construction began in the first half of the 16th century and was completed in the years 1585 - 1590. We do not know the name of the architect of the building or the builders. It is built of local broken stone with the addition of brick. In the second phase of construction, the body of the manor was crowned with an arcaded attic, on the elements of which there is a sgraffito with geometric motifs, interspersed with fantastic masks. The building's windows are decorated with richly profiled Renaissance stonework. The castle is built on a rectangular plan with sides 20 and 13 meters long. It has four corner towers, they are supported on stone corbels. The building has three floors: basements, ground floor and floor.
